Research Interests

My main research interest is focused on the topics related to mucosal immunology including celiac disease  (CD) and non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). With my expertise in immune-biology, I  established a series of platforms to evaluate CD immunopathogenesis, investigate  possible therapeutic strategies for coeliac patients based on immune modulation,  investigate mucosal immune response to gluten/wheat in NCGS. Moreover, another field of my research interest is the evaluation of the microstructure of foods and other materials by Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy.  My research work mainly includes immune-morphological methods (light microscopy, confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, laser capture microdissection) and the use of in vitro organ culture of intestinal biopsies.
