Abstract submission deadline : March 1st, 2016

The year 2016 marks the 26th anniversary of the founding of the International Committee on Nanostructured Materials (ICNM) at a small nanomaterials conference in Atlantic City—the precursor to the biannual Nano Conference series, celebrating its 24th anniversary in 2016. Since 1992, this prestigious series of biennial conferences has always provided a forum for large numbers of international scientists and engineers from a wide range of scientific disciplines interested in relations between the properties of materials and their unique structures at the nanometer level. The XIII International Conference on Nanostructured Materials (NANO 2016) will continue the tradition of this unique scientific event spearheaded by the ICNM—held in Cancun, Mexico in 1992; in Stuttgart, Germany in 1994; in Kona, Hawaii, USA in 1996; in Stockholm, Sweden in 1998; in Sendai, Japan in 2000; in Orlando, USA in 2002; in Wiesbaden, Germany in 2004; in Bangalore, India in 2006; in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2008; in Rome, Italy, in 2010; in Rhodes, Greece in 2012; and in Moscow, Russia, in 2014.

NANO 2016 will be the first Nano Conference held in Canada. It will take place during the pleasant summer month of August at the Québec City Convention Centre. Renowned for its hospitality and exceptional customer service, the Québec City Convention Centre has been hosting major conventions and product launches since its inauguration in 1996. In recognition of the outstanding experience offered to convention delegates, the Québec City Convention Centre was awarded the 2006 Apex Award for the world’s best convention centre by the prestigious International Association of Congress Centres (IACC). The Convention Centre is located in a prime area of Québec City, surrounded by world-class hotels and tourist attractions—including the historic district of Old Québec, designated a world heritage treasure by UNESCO since 1985 and the only fortified city north of Mexico.

NANO 2016, like preceding NANO conferences, is a top-level international conference bringing together scientists and engineers from around the world interested in recent developments in nanostructured materials—their chemistry, physics, mechanics, computer simulation and biomedical applications as well as techniques for their advanced characterization. The primary goal of NANO 2016 is to present state-of-the-art research, recent achievements and global trends in nanoscience and nanotechnology and to promote cross-disciplinary interactions that can spur the development of this exciting materials research field. Special emphasis will be placed on energy materials and applications, nanobiotechnology, health and environmental safety of nanomaterials and specific techniques to fully characterize nanostructured materials.

The conference language will be English. All original contributions may be in the form of plenary, roundtable, E-poster or poster presentations, with a number of parallel sessions dedicated to specific topics. All presented abstracts by one of the authors will appear in the conference proceedings.

We look forward to welcoming you to NANO 2016. The Organizing Committee
